The area being at the low end of Piemonte near to the Ligurian borders. This puts you in the ideal position for touring this castle and wine region or taking a short drive to the Italian Riviera. The region is well known for its food, wine and magnificent scenery. The cottage is situated in a small hamlet near to the medieval castle village of Tagliolo Monferrato and is surrounded by vineyards and wine cellars. The view of the castle from the front door is impressive especially at night when it is illuminated. Tagliolo is a sought after village and the cottage is situated on its most popular walk giving breath taking views across to the mountains on one side and the castle on the other. In the distance other hill top villages and their castles are visible. Roveta hamlet enjoys the stunning backdrop of the Cappane di Marcarolo National Park and its mountains. There are beautiful walks all around and tracks suitable for cycling. Swimming and horse riding are nearby The cottage easily accomodates up to 6 people and is newly furnished and decorated. It has been traditionally restored maintaining its strong rustic character. The well equipped kitchen has a lovely arch and antique flooring. It has 2 bathrooms, one en-suite and 2 lounges with charming antique character features. Heating is via wood burning stoves. To the front of the cottage there is parking for 2 cars and to the rear a courtyard with flower beds and garden furniture. Cottage rental for 7 nights ranges from 245 -395 euros depending on season (2008). The price includes the supply of sheets and towels but excludes cleaning and fuel. The historic market town of Ovada is 5 minutes away and Acqui Terme a Roman Spa town about 30 mins. away. The cultural centres of Milan and Turin are about 90 mins away. The spectacular Italian Riviera is only 25 mins away. This includes the port of Genova, which offers short cruises to the Cinque Terre and beyond. From early summer to late autumn, the whole region enjoys lively festivals where local wines and food may be sampled.
