First Floor:
*Superb oak-beamed salon (6.5m x 6m) with original fireplace, comfortable sofas, a huge solid oak dining table and traditional furniture. There is also a new TV/DVD combi with a selection of DVD’s, as well as indoor board games and books

*Bedroom 3 (3m x 2.2m) with a wonderful view over the top garden. It contains a 4' futon bed and can be used as an additional, relaxing seating area if not required as a bedroom on your visit

*Bathroom (2.7m x 2.7m) with bath, sink unit and shower.
*WC. (1.6m x 1.2m)

Second Floor:
*The second bedroom (6m x 5m) on the top floor has a double and a single bed and is furnished in pine.

The grounds:
Exclusive use of private, fenced and heated swimming pool 8.5m x 4.0m situated on the top terrace with cherry trees providing natural shade. From here you will have magnificent views of the countryside.
Garden chairs and sun beds provided.

In the rear garden there is a covered shady area perfect for outdoor eating complete with BBQ and 4m long table. There is even a set of outdoor boules

In this delightful country garden you will find many quiet spots for relaxation. The rear garden is bordered by a meadow, full of wild flowers including orchids.

Nearby:
A very convenient base for sightseeing and a fabulous area for country walks, enjoying the scenery (especially the fields of sunflowers), cycling, riding, canoeing, swimming and bird watching, (the rare Golden Oriole was recently sighted nearby).

Local area:

Chapdeuil: A 15 min walk down a track from La Germanie brings you to Chapdeuil with many fine buildings including a Chateau house, complete with moat and a church where there is an English service usually on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

La Tour Blanche: 5 min drive provides you with shops and facilities. This picturesque village has an excellent baker, butcher, general shop, Post Office, pharmacy and 2 bars !!
The nearest bank with cash machine is at Verteillac just a little further on.

Activities:

Renamon: 15 mins drive away on the R. Dronne. Canoes for hire, mill and picnic areas
La Jemaye: 40 mins drive. A magnificent lake south of Riberac ideal for swimming. Beach, picnic tables, childrens play areas, forest walks, snacks.

Places to Visit:

Bourdeilles: Just a 15 min drive brings you to the R. Dronne with a mill in the shape of a boat. Here you will find 2 castles- the first is a mediaeval fortress with magnificent views over the river and valleys from its tall octagonal keep.The second is richly furnished, dating from the Renaissance period.

Brantome: 15 mins further brings you to Brantome. Known as the Venice of the Perigord, it is erected on an island of the R. Dronne. This is a famous historical site with its’ Abbey dating back to the 11th century. Huge limestone cliffs dotted with caves. Museum. An absolute must to visit!

Grotte de Villars: The largest underground network in Perigord. Impressive formations and prehistoric paintings. Guided tours and son et lumiere shows. Picnic area. Playground. Café,shop.

Mareuil and Le Vieux Mareuil: Well worth a visit to the Chateau of Mareuil or just to meander through these charming villages.

Riberac: 25 min drive brings you to the main town on the banks of the R. Dronne. With origins dating back to the Viking invasion, it is now famous for its’ Friday morning market selling home grown produce,wines, mead, foie-gras, clothes, bric-a-brac and beautifully crafted ornaments and handicrafts. The square is an excellent meeting place with its’ choice of bars and restaurants.

Perigueux and Bergerac: A little further afield but worth a visit to explore the old parts of these towns. Perigueux has the largest church in the S.W. of France, the spectacular St.Front Cathedral.

Eating:

Home grown produce, foie-gras, local wines and mead coupled with the excellent bakeries, butchers and charcuteries will make self-catering a delight.
However, if you wish to venture out for a change there is a “watering hole” at La Tour Blanche (Chez Ferrand) there are a few café/bars and a restaurant in Verteillac, Mareuil, Monsec and Bourdeilles. A lot of restaurants will offer a fixed price daily menu which is excellent value for money.
Futher afield you will be able to choose from an abundance of local cuisine at Riberac, Brantome and Perigueux
